Portacool 30th Anniversary Spotlight – Rosa Uribe

Founded in 1990, Portacool is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year. To give you a view into what makes the leader in evaporative cooling tick, we’re spotlighting long-time employees and a few that have made a big impact in a short time to share their memories, experiences and perspectives during their time with the company.

Name: Rosa UribePortacool - The Leader in Portable Evaporative Coolers

Role: Portacool Subassembly Lead

Years at Portacool: 6 years

What initially drew you to Portacool? How did you first get involved with Portacool?
When I first applied I was a single mom and I needed a job to care for my daughter, Yvonne. Two of my sisters and my father worked here when I applied and liked their jobs. I decided it would be a good place for me. Many of my family members have worked at Portacool at one time or another.

What was Portacool like when you first started?
When I first started we were only building Portacool Classic models and now there are so many more. I have gotten to see the company become more innovative and do things to better serve our customers – like variable speed motors rather than just single and three speeds on all the products. Not only are the products different, but we now have better tools to build products better and faster.

How would you describe Portacool?
Portacool is a teamwork place. We have to work together as a team to get product out each day. I feel like we can rely on each other more now than when I first started to work here. The culture today allows us to help each other where we need help and that makes us more successful.
